Scarcity and Abundance – Choose Wisely!

The mentality of scarcity, has through history, been the culprit of limited mindsets which generate states of dissatisfaction and resentment. We’ve been taught to graduate from college, find a ‘real job’ and hold on to it for the rest of our lives if we want a stable and secure life.

This way of thinking has been the result of generations of unhappy individuals, convinced that opportunity is limited and that change is impossible.

Today, the abundance mentality is taking over its rightful throne as newer generations are demanding more from life than stability and survival.

Believe there’s always more
People with an abundance mindset believe there’s always more to life. More ideas, more opportunities and more possibilities.

The traditional way of thinking, that a ‘real job’ has to be a full time, long-term project, is wearing out. Whereas portfolio careers are becoming more popular.

It only takes some courage and self-confidence to embrace the abundance mindset.

What is your mentality?
Certainly, there’s more to life than saving for tomorrow and paying bills. Which mentality are you choosing to live by?
The effects of a scarcity mentality:

Holding on to a job which makes you feel miserable, just because it gives you stability.
Blaming others; the economy and the society, for the lack of opportunity in your work and life.
Comparing yourself to others and feeling less worth.
Negative feelings and emotions such as envy, low self-esteem, stress which consequently cause burn-out or depression, resulting in health issues.
Fear of losing time and money and staying in the comfort zone because you feel safer.

The effects of an abundance mentality:

Believing there’s always enough to go around.
Treating mistake and failure as an opportunity to learn and improve.
Sharing knowledge and credit with friends and colleagues for mutual beneficence.
An abundance mindset helps you trust the fact that in order to develop you need to take risks and get out of the comfort zone.
Looking for a positive perspective on the things that happen in your life, no matter how bad they may seem.
Knowing that there’s always something to learn, no matter how much you might think you’ve learned it all.
Being proactive rather than reactive. In other words, taking action rather than waiting for things to happen.

Trust you have nothing to lose
Changing your mindset is a process, because all your life someone taught you the things that made you take on the scarcity mentality.

Adopt the abundance mindset by changing your habits and thinking patterns.

So, if you haven’t already, it’s time to make your decision, take a leap of faith, and believe abundance is everywhere.

Once you have made the decision to adapt to the abundance mindset you’ve already made a step toward change.

Believe in your ability to follow through with even the scariest decisions you’ve been meaning to make. It’s never too late for a change in your life, career, and even your location.

Keep in mind that a goal reached is not the end of the journey, but it’s the journey that you have to enjoy and make the most use of. Moments of difficulty are the best opportunities to grow.

And remember…

“It’s only after you’ve stepped outside your comfort zone that you begin to change, grow, and transform.”
